Hyundai’s refreshed 2025 Ioniq 5 will be equipped with Tesla’s standard North American charging port and a larger battery pack, providing more range when it arrives in dealerships this fall.
All Ioniq 5s receive interior and exterior updates, and a more off-road-focused XRT variant joins the lineup.
Hyundai Motor North America CEO Jose Muñoz said in a statement that the Ioniq 5’s updates “will give customers more of what they want.”
The new Ioniq 5, which is the first electric vehicle from Hyundai’s Metaplant in Bryan County, Georgia, will also qualify for a $3,750 federal tax credit.
It’s the first Hyundai Motor Group EV to qualify for at least part of the $7,500 in federal incentives under new, more stringent guidelines implemented this year. All Ioniq 5s qualify for the full $7,500 when leased.
The 2025 Ioniq 5 is also the first Hyundai model built with the updated charging standard, gaining access to more than 17,000 chargers in Tesla’s Supercharger network. Hyundai said all new or updated models will come with the new port starting in the fourth quarter.
Battery capacity and range have been improved across most of the lineup. Standard Range models now carry a 63-kilowatt-hour battery, up from 58 kWh in the previous model. Battery capacity in Long Range models has increased from 77.4 kWh to 84 kWh.
The most efficient rear-wheel-drive SE, SEL and Limited models can now travel more than 310 miles on a full charge, compared to 303 miles for the previous model.
The SE, SEL, Limited, and XRT trims with all-wheel drive will now offer between 250 and 280 miles of range, depending on wheel and tire size. For some configurations, that’s more than the 260-mile range offered on the previous version.
The range of the base Standard Range model with rear-wheel drive increases from 220 miles to more than 240.
On the outside, the 2025 Ioniq 5 gets restyled front and rear bumpers, a new rear spoiler, and more aerodynamic wheels. Flush roof rails are available, and three new colors join the palette: Atlas White Matte, Ecotronic Gray Matte, and Celadon Gray Matte.
Interior changes include redesigned HVAC controls and steering wheel, as well as a new center console. Front seat heater controls are now physical buttons. The SEL and above now feature heated rear seats.
Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are now standard, as is a 12.3-inch screen that includes the driver information display and the central infotainment touchscreen. There are five USB-C ports throughout the cabin. All models now come with over-the-air software updates.
Several new safety and convenience features have been added, including a convenient steering wheel sensing feature, Lane Following Assist 2, Remote Smart Parking Assist 2 and Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist (reverse, forward and side).
Hyundai said the new 2025 Ioniq 5 XRT is positioned just below the high-performance Ioniq 5 N and is designed for consumers who like to “play in the dirt.”
The Ioniq 5 XRT also has a suspension lift of nearly 1 inch and 7 inches of ground clearance.
It offers a more aggressive front and rear design with unique bumpers, side skirts and distinctive 18-inch black wheels. Inside, it has XRT badging and a black headliner.
Hyundai has not announced pricing for the 2025 Ioniq 5. The 2024 Ioniq 5 starts at $43,195 and tops out at $60,795. Both prices include shipping.
