8-Core Snapdragon X Plus Leaks Ahead of IFA Debut

Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X-series chipsets come in two varieties – the X More lineup that features a 10-core Oryon CPU and the X Elite that comes in 12-core configurations. A new leak Evan Blass Intel Corp. has confirmed the key specs for the 8-core X Plus version expected to debut in laptops announced at IFA Berlin. This will be a slightly cut-down version of the regular X Plus chip with an 8-core Oryon CPU and will ship in CoPilot+ notebooks starting at $800.

Based on previous reportsThe new chip will offer 3.4GHz single-core boost and 3.2GHz multi-core boost. In addition to the reduced CPU core count and clock speeds, the new X Plus chip will also feature a downgraded Adreno GPU rated at 1.7 TFLOPS (up from 3.8 TFLOPS), LPDDR5X RAM with 30MB total cache (compared to 42MB on the X Plus), and support for triple external displays at UHD resolution and 60Hz (up from 4K 120Hz).

It will also retain the Qualcomm Hexagon NPU with 45 TOPS, as well as the Always-Sensing ISP, Wi-Fi 7, and 5G support.
