Samsung is already working on the Galaxy A36, which will obviously be the successor to the Galaxy A35 which was launched in March. Today, an A36 prototype ran extensive Geekbench testing, which revealed that Samsung is testing the device with Android 15 on board.
This is a version that Google launched for its Pixels yesterday but which Samsung is only should be released next year with the arrival of Galaxy S25 family in January. This likely means the Galaxy A36 won’t land until after that, if it’s going to run Android 15 on day one, which is suggested by the fact that it’s being tested with that build.
Since the low end Galaxy A16 5Gwhich became official Recently promised to receive six major Android updates, the A36 should have the same promise, and if it ships Android 15 from day one, that means it will end its life on Android 21!
The Galaxy A36 will be powered by either the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 or the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2, depending on its GPU. The prototype tested today had 6GB of RAM, but there could be more options at launch. The Galaxy A35 is equipped with Samsung’s Exynos 1380 SoC, so the A36 changes chipset vendor, which is interesting.
