THE Met Office has issued a rare amber weather warning for two parts of the UK, stretching for 15 hours as Storm Ashley is set to wreak havoc with gusts of up to 80 miles per hour.

The amber alert is in place for two areas of the UK: Strathclyde and Highland and Eilean Siar, both in Scotland.

THE Met Office reads: “Storm Ashley will bring a period of strong winds to much of western Scotland on Sunday and Monday, with the strongest winds expected in the Amber warning area.

“Parts of western Scotland are likely to experience gusts of 70-80mph at times on Sunday afternoon, before winds ease in the evening and overnight. The winds coincide with high spring tides and large waves, which may lead to a greater risk of disruption along the coastline.
