After years of being an NFL laughingstock, the Washington Commanders will have the opportunity to add a quarterback who can turn them into winners when the NFL Draft kicks off next week.

They will have the No. 2 pick, and assuming Caleb Williams goes at No. 1 to the Chicago Bears, the Commanders will have to choose between two or three very talented QB prospects.

There has been some debate about who is the second-best prospect in this year’s draft, but Adam Schefter believes they will take Jayden Daniels from LSU, via NFL on ESPN.

Daniels won the Heisman Trophy this past season while throwing for 3,812 yards and 40 touchdowns, and he also added 1,134 yards and 10 touchdowns on the ground for the Tigers.

He has decent size at 6-foot-4 and 210 pounds, and he has outstanding athleticism that he can use to not only move the chains himself but to also get out of the pocket to create a better throwing opportunity.

If Williams for some reason doesn’t reach his potential, perhaps because he doesn’t have enough of the intangibles that result in success, Daniels has a great chance to become the best QB in this year’s draft class.

The Commanders have seldom made the playoffs over the last 30 years or so, but change is in the air for them, especially after the controversial Daniel Snyder sold the team months ago.

Now, a group headed by billionaire investor Josh Harris and NBA legend Magic Johnson is at the helm, and this could be the start of an era that could someday lead to the Vince Lombardi Trophy heading to the nation’s capital.
