Borussia Dortmund narrowly missed its second Champions League victory since 1997. The strong Bundesliga team lost 0:2 (0:0) on Saturday evening at Wembley Stadium in London against Real Madrid. Defender Daniel Carvajal gave Los Blancos the lead in the 74th minute after a corner kick from Toni Kroos. Vinícius Júnior (83′) followed a little later. Thanks to the triumph in front of 86,212 spectators, the record winner from Spain now has nine titles in the premier class.

Since the introduction of the Champions League in the 1992/1993 season, there have been 32 winners, but only 14 different ones.
