Attention bargain hunters: Amazon is hosting Prime Day again. Members can save big; the shipping giant has announced hundreds of thousands of deals in advance. As usual, customers can find discounted products from a wide range of categories on the mail-order company’s website. The items include areas such as beauty, fashion, household and electronics.
Prime Day on July 16 and 17
Similar to Black Friday, bargain hunters may be hoping to score a product at a heavily discounted price. Although the established online promotion is called “Prime Day,” the deals for Prime members aren’t just for one day. There are already a few deals in the run-up to the savings day, which is now in its tenth year, and Prime Day itself takes place on July 16 and 17 for 48 hours. Kerstin Giebels, head of Prime at Amazon.de, promises in a statement a shopping event “with big discounts in every category.”
During the promotion days there are always new offers. Amazon announces that the offers include products from well-known brands such as AEG, Lego, Sony and WMF also contain items from smaller companies. In recent years, there have also been discounted televisions from Samsung, coffee machines from De’Longhi and care products from L’Oréal Paris and Nivea. The mail order company also wants to offer bargains tailored to customers via categories such as ‘offers you might like’, ‘offers for you’ and ‘offers for items you have saved’.
Technology in your home at a reduced price
Amazon is also offering its own technology with a temporary discount. Think of smart speakers such as devices from the Echo Dot series or the recently introduced Echo Spot. Just like the Dots, the smart alarm clock, designed for the bedside table, supports the voice assistant Alexa.
In addition, Fire TV devices are offered at reduced prices. This could be especially interesting for anyone who has not yet started looking for an alternative to their cable TV connection since the additional cost privilege was abolished on July 1. The Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K, for example, makes it possible to bring TV and streaming content to your TV or monitor at home. We support, among others: YouTubethe public media libraries, TV services such as Zattoo or streaming services such as NetflixDisney+ and the Amazon Prime Video service, which is included with a Prime membership. However, if you want to watch Prime Video content without ads, you’ll have to pay an additional €2.99 per month.
Well-known Prime trick helps you save
As mentioned, only Prime members can take advantage of savings days. For anyone who is not currently a customer, there is a well-known trick: a trial membership. New customers can try out a Prime membership for 30 days for free and during this period also buy products at a discount on Prime Day.
However, if you do not cancel in time, you will pay either 8.99 euros per month or 89.90 euros per year in Germany, depending on the subscription you choose. Interns and students receive a free membership for half a year and then a 50 percent discount. People who are exempt from paying broadcasting costs can book a membership for about half the price of 4.49 euros per month. The same applies to holders of a social pass from a participating city such as Berlin, Dresden, Cologne, Mannheim, Nuremberg or Wuppertal. More detailed information can be found on the Amazon website.
