At $1,049, you’re lucky to get an RTX 4060 gaming laptop on Amazon, but an RTX 4070? It’s almost impossible. On the other hand, the online retailer has a habit of working miracles, as it did with the HP Victus 16, which is available for an incredibly low price. There are several RAM and storage configurations present, so if you want to future-proof this portable powerhouse and don’t want to go through the process of upgrading the components yourself, those options are available as well.

The HP Victus 16’s RTX 4070 is paired with an 8-core, 16-thread AMD Ryzen 7 8845HS, along with 16GB of DDR5 RAM and a 512GB PCIe NVMe Gen 4 SSD. Buyers also get a single HDMI cable in the box, assuming they want to extend their existing workspace by connecting their gaming laptop to an external monitor. The display running on the Victus 16 is a 1080p IPS LCD that supports a refresh rate of up to 144Hz. Given that the mobile RTX 4070 has 8GB of GDDR6 VRAM, and with games becoming more video memory-intensive, HP chose the right resolution for this model based on its specs.

Since the Victus 16 has an AMD CPU, you can pretty much forget about seeing Thunderbolt 4 as part of the I/O, but what you do get is better battery life from the machine. Other than that, this is the lowest price we’ve seen on Amazon for an RTX 4070 laptop. Sure, the Victus 16 may not boast the best build quality out there, but if you take good care of it, this gaming laptop can last you for years.
