While the main focus for fans in the NFL Draft process relates to the top selections, the value for franchises is in more than which player is selected with one of the top-32 picks.

Scouts and analysts spend countless hours identifying players from all colleges, scouring the globe for unheralded athletes who can make an impact at the next level.

PFF analyst Trevor Sikkema believes that Memphis running back Blake Watson is one such prospect.

Sikkema took to Twitter Sunday to share those opinions, calling Watson an “underrated back in this class.”

The analyst shared his reasons as to why Watson is such a strong football player.

Sikkema told his followers that Watson can stop and start quickly as a running back, doing so with precision in his moves.

Watson also possesses an explosiveness in his running style, a trait Sikkema believes will transition nicely to the NFL’s style.

Although he excelled at the collegiate level as a running back, Watson was originally a wide receiver in high school.

The knock on Watson’s draft value is his size as he stands just 5-foot-9 and is undersized at 195 pounds.

Not possessing elite speed for his size is also a ding against Watson.

Most analysts grade Watson as a Day 3 draft prospect, meaning the NFL team that selects him will end up with a valuable player in rounds 4-7.
