MANNHEIM. The one at Police officer seriously injured in attack in Mannheim was put into an induced coma. A spokesperson for the Baden-Württemberg State Police confirmed this to JUNGE FREIHEIT. His life is therefore still in acute danger. The officer was stabbed several times in the neck and head by the attacker from Afghanistan with a combat knife approximately 30 centimeters long. An arrest warrant has now been issued for the migrant, who arrived in 2014.

“The other persons injured by the suspect are five men aged 25, 36, 42, 54 and 59. Among the injured are a German-Kazakh and an Iraqi citizen, the other three people have German citizenship. the state police department said. “The 25-year-old has now been able to leave the hospital, the other victims are still being treated intramurally. The 54-year-old suffered life-threatening injuries in the attack, but is now out of danger.”

The 59-year-old is well-known Islam critic Michael Stürzenberger, who was likely the main target of the attack. In an interview with JUNGE FREIHEIT, Stürzenberger said: “The doctors told me that one of the stab wounds had missed the lung by just a hair’s breadth. Otherwise it could have ended very badly for me.” He hoped the seriously injured officer would recover quickly. (ho/met ro)
