The Minnesota Timberwolves were going to be quite thin in the frontcourt, especially below the rim.

With both Rudy Gobert and Karl-Anthony Towns out, the table was set for Anthony Davis to have a dominant game, and he lived up to the task.

The former New Orleans Pelicans star had one of the best games of his career, logging 27 points on 9-of-17 shooting to go along with 25 rebounds, five assists, seven steals, and three blocks.

He was pretty close to getting a triple-double with steals, and while doing it against Naz Reid and Luka Garza wasn’t as impressive as it would’ve been against their top-notch frontcourt, he was still a monster from start to finish.

That’s why Lakers guard Austin Reaves needed just three words to describe his performance: “Just pure dominance” (Via Spectrum SportsNet).

That’s the kind of performance the Lakers need from Davis night in and night out, and the fact that everybody knows he’s capable of doing that is why he’s often so criticized and questioned.

The Lakers had LeBron James back on the floor after a one-game absence, but they cannot expect the 21-year veteran to do all the heavy lifting when they have another superstar on the roster.

Davis is one of the most talented and impactful two-way players to ever lace them up, and he’s the most important player on the team.

Hopefully, he’ll be able to build from this performance and stay healthy for when it matters the most, as there’s still plenty of basketball to be played.
