The Californian parent company announced this step by Fisker GmbH on Tuesday at the production site in Graz. Other units were not affected by the bankruptcy, the company said.
The Ocean SUV model was built in Graz by the contract manufacturer Magna. A production stoppage was announced in March. Magna does not expect production to resume, as revealed in the company’s quarterly report last week. Approximately 500 jobs will therefore disappear in Graz.
The Fisker company, founded by car designer Henrik Fisker, is facing existential concerns after the failure of its direct sales strategy. Higher interest rates and problems with suppliers have put additional pressure on the start-up. Austrian Fisker GmbH wants to restructure ‘as much as possible’ and continue to sell vehicles and offer services.
