Genk has reportedly joined the race to sign former Club Brugge defender Eduard Sobol. The 28-year-old Ukrainian international defender is currently playing for Ligue 1 side Strasbourg but has only made three appearances for the team this season. Since joining in 2023, he has only played 19 matches. Genk is in need of another full-back due to Joris Kayembe’s participation in AFCON and Gerardo Arteaga’s potential return to Mexico. Sobol has extensive experience in the Pro League, having played over 100 games for Club Brugge and scoring four goals. He has also played in Ukraine and Czechia. At the international level, Sobol has earned 29 caps for Ukraine. Westerlo and Gent are also interested in signing the defender, with Westerlo looking to strengthen their defense to avoid relegation and Gent missing players due to upcoming tournaments.
