US President Joe Biden is aiming for a full second term if re-elected. Asked whether the 81-year-old wanted to stay in office for another four years, his spokeswoman Karine Jean-Pierre said in Washington on Tuesday: “Yes.”
She stressed that she believes Democrats are now “absolutely” united behind Biden. “We want to turn the tide. We want to put this behind us,” Jean-Pierre said when asked if Biden now believes the crisis is behind him. “He wants to move forward, to unite the party,” she said.
Since his disastrous performance, Biden has been locked in a televised duel with his rival Donald Trump In late June, he faced mounting debate about his physical and mental fitness for the office of president — including within his own party. Despite the criticism, the oldest president in U.S. history, at 81, says he is “determined” to remain in the race for the presidential election in November.
