Stade Brestois are on track for a historic season under manager Eric Roy. The club have never finished above 8th in the league but are currently sat in 2nd place and on course for automatic qualification to the Champions League.
Despite exciting times on the horizon for Brest, the club will be aware that their stadium Francis-Le Blé would need to undergo work before being able to host matches in the Champions League.
According to Le Télégramme, UEFA regulations have four categories of stadiums, and only category 4 can host Champions League games. As it currently stands, the Francis-Le Blé is a category 2 which means it would only be allowed to host games in the 1st and 2nd qualifying rounds for the Champions League or games in the Europa Conference League.
Brest will likely have to find a midweek home
What this likely means is that Brest will need to find a temporary host for when they play in the Champions League as the work to bring the 102-year-old stadium will be time-consuming and costly.
