The Cleveland Browns were facing a tough decision this offseason.

With Nick Chubb coming back from a major injury, and given his steep salary, some thought they could look to part ways with him.

However, with him being a fan favorite and one of the most beloved and respected figures in the organization, that may have never been a plan for GM Andrew Berry.

Fortunately for both parties, they came to a solution that works for everybody.

According to a report by Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, the Browns have now restructured Chubb’s contract.

He agreed to lower his base salary for the upcoming campaign, but he’s going to have an opportunity to earn all that money back — and perhaps even more — with incentives.

Chubb is coming off a gruesome injury and has put in a lot of work to get back on the field, so there’s a chance that he’s not going to be able to hit the ground running, but he still deserves a chance to get paid.

If anything, the team could most likely restructure his contract again to turn some of those incentives into a bonus, just like they did with Joe Flacco late in the season.

Whatever the case, it’s nice to see Chubb taking one for the team, especially considering how ruthless the running back market has gotten.

That’s one of the many reasons why he’s such a strong voice in the locker room and why everybody respects him as a leader.

Hopefully, it won’t be long before he’s back out there as one of the best and most dominant running backs in the game.
