A few days after All-Pro Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce announced his retirement from the NFL, another longtime member of the organization has decided to hang up his cleats after spending more than a decade in the league.
Fletcher Cox, who spent his entire 12-year pro football career with the Eagles, announced on Sunday that, like Kelce, he is retiring from the NFL.
Cox was a six-time Pro Bowler and one of the best defensive tackles in the league during his prime, so it wasn’t very surprising to see Kansas City Chiefs All-Pro defensive tackle Chris Jones respond to the news on Sunday with a post on his personal Twitter account.
“Much respect,” was Jones’ message to Cox.

Jones knows what it takes to be regarded as one of the best defensive tackles in the league, so he was clearly impressed with how long Cox was able to perform at such a high level in the NFL.
As for Jones, he was involved in some of his own breaking news on Saturday when he and the Chiefs agreed to a new five-year contract that includes a whopping $95 million in guaranteed money.
It’s certainly a deal that’s well deserved for the Kansas City defensive lineman.
After the Chiefs selected him in the second round of the 2016 NFL Draft, Jones has developed into arguably the best defensive lineman in the entire league.
He was originally scheduled to become a free agent in the next few days, but Kansas City obviously didn’t want that to happen, and now he will remain with the team for the 2024 campaign as they look to win the Super Bowl for the third season in a row.
