You know how, even though you promised yourself years ago that you would never do that again, you keep knocking Yes When do websites ask to send notifications? If yes, then you surely know how annoying it is to have your notifications cluttered by random notifications from random websites.
Fortunately, Google Chrome has a solution — instant unsubscribe, right from the notification itself. This is rolling out to Pixels first, but promises to come to more Android devices “soon,” and will offer an unsubscribe option right inside the notification. Tap that, and you’re done — at least with that particular site’s spam (sorry, very important notifications).
Obviously, you’ll need to go through them all one by one. And don’t worry, if you tap Unsubscribe by accident, you can Undo your action and continue bathing in spam if you wish.
In addition to this feature, Chrome is also getting an enhanced Safety Checkup, which will automatically run in the background and revoke notification permissions from sites that Google Safe Browsing deems to be “tricking users into granting the permission” (so, you know, most of them).
The new Safety Check will let you know about the actions it takes, like revoking permissions from sites you no longer visit, flagging unwanted notifications, and more. It will also remind you of things that need your attention, like any security issues that need to be addressed.
Finally, you can choose to grant permissions like access to your camera and microphone just once. Once you leave the site in question, the permissions will be revoked and the site won’t be able to use them until you explicitly grant them again.
