Nketiah is unwilling to take a pay cut on his £120,000-a-week Gunners salary, which has put off several potential suitors
Crystal Palace’s need for reinforcement comes after a summer in which they lost several key players.
Joachim Andersen, Jordan Ayew and Michael Olise all left Selhurst Park this summer, meaning Oliver Glasner is keen to add quality to his squad.
It was revealed by talkSPORT’s chief football correspondent Alex Crook in June that Arsenal were asking for a £50m fee.
But they have been forced to lower their demands, with the Gunners now asking for a fee in the region of £30m-£35m.
But despite Nketiah’s experience and quality, the former Crystal Palace owner Jordan was shocked by the assessment.
“At the end of the day, if you want £40 million, you’re better off asking for £50 million,” he said. “But is he worth £50 million? Pfft, you’ve got to be joking, right?
“There is one thing that pays for an old rope, but that’s… you’re trying a bit too hard. He’s not a £50million footballer, I mean he’s lucky to be a £30million footballer and earning £100,000 a week!”
Nketiah has scored 38 goals in 168 appearances for Arsenal since coming through the club’s youth system.
He also earned a call-up to the England national team, as well as being the all-time top scorer for the under-21s.
