Edgar Berlanga continued his attack on Oscar De La Hoya by going on a slurred rant on Wednesday.
Ahead of his fight with Canelo on Saturday, Berlanga had issues with De La Hoya labeling the upcoming fight as a “snoozefest”.
De La Hoya, who is embroiled in a bitter rivalry with Canelo following his bitter divisionsaid on Monday: “I am the king of PPV and the @Canelo vs @EdgarBerlangaJr fight will not exceed 100,000 homes.
“Nobody is paying $90 for this snoozefest. Just stating the facts, as always.”
Berlanga responded angrily: “How can a scoundrel like Oscar hate me and the event?
“You are someone that many fighters looked up to. You are a f****** @OscarDeLaHoya.”
And before the pre-fight press conference ended on Wednesday, Berlanga continued his tirade against the American boxing promoter.
“I want to say something too. F*** Oscar De La Hoya too,” Berlanga said. “That motherf***er, he keeps talking, keeps talking.
“We’ll beat the crap out of him when we see him. You have to stop… he’s trying to f*** up the event.”
Canelo was initially ordered by the IBF to face mandatory challenger William Scull.
However, the former pound-for-pound king chose to face Berlanga as it made “more financial sense”.
As a result, Cinnamon was stripped of the IBF belt and thus his undisputed status at 168 pounds.
A fight for the vacant IBF title was then scheduled between Scull and Vladimir Shishkin.
If Canelo decides not to face the winner of the fight, he is expected to face Terence Crawford next.
The fight is believed to be high on the wish list of Saudi boxing chief Turki Alalshikh, who recently said Crawford not interested in any other fight.
Canelo is open to facing Crawford but insists it will be an “easy fight” for him.
“You know, what we saw in the last fight with him [vs Israil Madrimov]I think that’s why there are weight classes,” he said. Manouk Akopyan.
“That’s what I think, it’s an easy fight for me. He’s moving a lot and he’s a good fighter and a good boxer, but I’ll understand him.”
