The memorial service took place near the royal family’s Sandringham estate in Norfolk.

A source told Express.co.uk that both Prince William and Prince Harry were present but did not speak to each other during the service and there is only one thing that can fix the broken relationship: the Spencer family.

The joint appearance came after sources close to the Duke confirmed he would not be attending the event due to security concerns in the UK.

The meeting is the first sign of a slight thaw between the warring brothers, which has given the friends an element of hope for reconciliation.

“Harry and William were both present at the memorial,” the source said. “They sat apart and did not appear to speak to each other during the service.

Meanwhile, the vicar who conducted the service revealed that Prince Harry and Prince William did not speak to each other as they left the church separately after the memorial service.

Reverend Dan Tansey admitted he was surprised to see William and Harry at the service, which was attended by around 300 people.

He told MailOnline: “The memorial service was yesterday. [Thursday]. The private funeral took place earlier in the week with only [close] family.”

Describing the vision of the separated brothers, Reverend Tansey said, “Yes, it was a great surprise to me.”

The vicar also said he did not remember Harry and William talking at the reception after the service, but said there were “lots of family and friends speaking to them”.

A source told the Daily Express: “There was a wake afterwards and Harry has been in the UK since Tuesday spending time with his late mother’s family.

“Everyone is hoping that there might be some kind of intervention from Jane or Charles [Spencer] which I hope will bring them back.

“It will take some time, but it seems like a possibility.”

Lord Robert Fellowes was married to Lady Jane Spencer, sister of the late Princess Diana, for more than 40 years. The couple had three children together.

“The Home Office always needs 28 days’ notice to organise its security team, but that doesn’t stop you coming to the UK without their help.”
