It wasn’t until superstar point guard Chris Paul joined the Los Angeles Clippers that the struggling NBA franchise was taken seriously as a potential title contender in the Western Conference.

Paul joined forces with fellow stars Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan, which formed a formidable trio that many believed would eventually go on to win an NBA title in Los Angeles.

Unfortunately, the Clippers were always a force with these three stars leading the way and Doc Rivers calling the shots on the sideline, but they were never able to get over the hump and win it all.

Ultimately, each one of these three stars headed elsewhere, with only Jordan being able to win that elusive championship ring as a member of the Denver Nuggets last season while playing alongside superstar big man Nikola Jokic.

With the Lob City Clippers a thing of the past, Rivers, who is now the head coach of the Milwaukee Bucks, recently said that he believes that Griffin, Paul, and Jordan should all have their jerseys retired by the team, via Tomer Azarly of ClutchPoints.

“I wanted to retire a jersey,” Rivers said. “There was no jersey to retire. … I think there will be jerseys coming forward. Blake [Griffin]. I think DJ 100% should be. And I think Chris Paul. So now, they’re starting to create history, and that’s important for franchises, and that’s what we wanted to do.”

It’ll be interesting to see if this is something that team owner Steve Ballmer considers when the team moves into the Intuit Dome next season, as the Clippers will finally have their own arena and could decorate it with these three jerseys.

Only time will tell what Ballmer intends to do and whether he wants to immortalize these players with retired jerseys.
