Doctor Slump Episode 3: Park Hyung-Sik, Park Shin-Hye offer each other support

The latest Doctor Slump episode 3 began with Yeo Jeong-Woo and Nam Ha-Neul’s time as rivals in high school. The former followed the same routine as his rival, and the duo fainted simultaneously. While in the recovery room, Jeong-Woo asked Ha-Neul if she felt alright. However, Ha-Neul’s commitment to study even while in recovery sent shockwaves through him. He decided to see it all through the end.

The scene shifted to the present when Ha-Neul and Jeong-Woo tried to recover from their drunken and emotional hug last night. The duo promised to stay away from each other to avoid awkwardness. Meanwhile, Ha-Neul’s family did everything in their power to ensure they helped her get through her mental health journey. Her mother even brought her medicines and asked her to take them on time.

On the other hand, Jeong-Woo met with his lawyers ahead of his second trial. His assistant, who was in the operation theatre during the accident, accepted to testify before the judge. While Jeong-Woo’s lawyers hoped for a potential victory, he was unsure of the assistant’s sudden change in behavior. Previously, the assistant refused to testify.

Later that night, a mysterious man who previously tailed Jeong-Woo climbed secretly to the rooftop and arrived at his house. Jeong-Woo lived as a tenant at Ha-Neul’s house. Meanwhile, the assistant broke down Jeong-Woo’s window. Ha-Neul’s family discovered the incident, and her brother informed Jeon-Woo. They alerted the police, who predicted that the culprit had made a failed attempt at robbing his house.

Ha-Neul offered him to stay at her house. The duo had dinner with Ha-Neul’s family when she talked about missing out on all the fun because she had to study. After a rather emotional and awkward dinner, Jeong-Woo offered to take her for ice cream. Although she initially denied the offer, her mother’s overwhelming love beat her resistance.

Jeong-Woo and Ha-Neul then spent quality time over ice cream and arcade games. Jeong-Woo also advised that the two take a break during the lowest points of their lives. The former rivals found comfort in one another. Moreover, because of Jeong-Woo, Ha-Neul understood there’s more to life than studying.

The following day, Ha-Neul discovered that her senior had orchestrated a scheme where she received less severance pay. When she asked her former colleagues, they refused to do anything about it, fearing the senior. Meanwhile, Jeong-Woo took some fruits to hand over to Ha-Neul’s family as a token of gratitude for taking him in yesterday. But he left after he overheard them talk about his scandal.

Ha-Neul met him at the rooftop when he avoided her. After reaching home, her mother confronted her about his scandal. She realized that he overheard them talking about it and felt guilty. Meanwhile, Jeong-Woo discovered that his assistant refused to testify once again. Moreover, the assistant also resigned from his job ahead of the trial.

Ha-Neul decided to help him with the trial. She read a ton of dissertations overnight and found a similar case in India. The patient on warfarin had died due to excessive bleeding during surgery. Considering this was what happened with Jeong-Woo’s patient, she knew this case would help him put it across as evidence.

However, she was a little too late with the paper. Although she handed it over to the lawyers, the judge had concluded the day’s trial and postponed it to a later date. Jeong-Woo became overwhelmed with gratitude. As reporters swarmed him outside the court, he ran over to Ha-Neul as she fell. He took her to his clinic and expressed his appreciation.

Ha-Neul advised that the two blow off some steam until morning. Jeong-Woo asked her to accompany him to watch the sunrise at Sokcho. The two headed to the beach, but the sun was nowhere to be seen. The two realized that the lack of sunlight and the cloudy weather resembled their lives. But Jeong-Woo then offered her to become friends and not address each other as former classmates.

Ha-Neul accepted his request, knowing he was only trying to put up a brave front. She wanted to comfort him as his friend to help him cope. The episode ended with a flashback to the two in the recovery room in high school. Ha-Neul wrote a note for him before leaving. However, she saw his mother not care for him and leave a sick son in the room. Meanwhile, she went with her mother, with the note outside the room on the floor.
