Donald Trump was a surprise guest at the final round of LIV Golf Miami on Sunday, as he delighted fans with a last-minute appearance at his Doral course.

The Republican presidential nominee arrived shortly before play began in the final round of the Saudi-backed series.

Trump, 77, was seen chatting with players on the practice green of the course he owns outside Miami.

Wearing a Trump polo shirt, and his famous red Make America Great Again cap, he shook hands with Americans Bubba Watson and Bryson DeChambeau.

Trump then headed for the VIP area at the LIV Golf event, telling a Mail Sport reporter ‘I love the Daily Mail’ as he walked through the crowds and signed merchandise.

The former US President, who is hoping to return to the White House after this year’s election, was joined at the course by his son Eric.

Heading into Sunday’s final round in Florida, Spain’s Sergio Garcia sat two shots clear at the top of the leaderboard at LIV Golf Miami.

Trump and LIV have long been bedfellows – the Saudi-backed series has hosted tournaments at both his Doral and Bedminster courses over recent years.

The 77-year-old, a keen golfer himself, has even played alongside the likes of DeChambeau and Dustin Johnson at LIV Golf Pro-Am tournaments.

Trump recently claimed he won two tournaments at his West Palm Beach club, where golf legend Jack Nicklaus presented him a trophy.

Trump wrote on Truth Social: ‘It is my great honor to be at Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach tonight, AWARDS NIGHT, to receive THE CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP TROPHY & THE SENIOR CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP TROPHY. I WON BOTH!’
