Hotz asked in a post on He also wrote there: “I think it’s absolutely fantastic when fascists die.” He later deleted the tweets. RBB program director Katrin Günther said the statements were incompatible with RBB’s values. Hotz previously moderated the program “Theoretisch Cool” on the RBB youth radio station Fritz.

Dieter Nuhr with similar statements?

The decision was partly criticized on social media – and the question arose why the broadcaster did not also end its collaboration with comedian Dieter Nuhr. In early June, Nuhr said on his show “Nuhr im Erste”: “What kind of people are they who leave the house with a knife? Wouldn’t it be better to put such people to sleep?” He added that it was “a bit difficult to talk about it, because the number of suspects with a migrant background is high.”

At the request of the NDR media magazine ‘Zapp’, the broadcaster commented on the statements of Hotz and Nuhr. “From our point of view, these statements are not comparable,” said the RBB. “Dieter Nuhr speaks of an anonymous crowd, Sebastian Hotz’s remark supports a very specific act of violence against a very specific person,” according to the justification that “Zapp” published on X.

The broadcaster further explained: “The danger there [bei dem Attentat auf Donald Trump, Anm. d. Red.] real, a person died. From our point of view, this is a different content than Dieter Nuhr’s.”

As “Zapp” further explained, the RBB State Treaty states that the RBB “must promote integration in peace and freedom” and combat discrimination. “The question remains how this fits in with Dieter Nuhr’s statements,” the tweet from “Zapp” said.
