Emma Stone joined the Five-Timers Club by hosting the December 2nd episode of Saturday Night Live, which was highlighted by a sketch spoofing Mama Cass Elliot’s ubiquitous song “Make Your Own Kind of Music.”

In the skit, Stone leans heavily into her role as a hacky producer named Mitch Lester, who comes to the studio and tells Mama Cass (played by Chloe Troast) how the track will be “everywhere” until it gets forgotten — only to experience a resurgence decades down the line.

“This song is going to be everywhere, Mama,” Stone says. “And then everybody’s going to forget about it for a long, long time… But in about 40, 50 years, I think it’s going to start showing up in a bunch of movies, baby.”

Mama Cass is initially elated to learn that the song will frequent movie soundtracks — until she finds out that it usually appears in violent scenes “where the main character snaps and goes on a rampage.”

As an example, Stone gets to call back to her 2009 role in Zombieland, describing a key scene in the movie as Mama Cass sings “Make Your Own Kind of Music” in the background. “I think people in the future are really gonna love that juxtaposition.”

Still, Mama Cass isn’t sold on the concept and before the skit is over, she takes matters into her own hands. Watch it in full below.

Noah Kahan was the musical guest on the episode, playing “Stick Season” and “Dial Drunk.” Watch those performances here.

Stone’s upcoming film, Yorgos Lanthimos’ Poor Things, hits theaters on December 8th. She currently stars in Nathan Fielder’s latest TV series, The Curse.
