The entire team at Annapurna Interactive, publisher of several famous titles including the famous cat game Muttsreportedly resigned this month after a dispute with his landlord.

According to a new Bloomberg ReportThe publisher’s president, Nathan Gary, and his team were in talks with Annapurna owner Megan Ellison to spin off the video game division as an independent entity. Negotiations ended when Ellison left, prompting Gary and the other executive to resign. The rest of the team followed soon after..

In a statement provided to Bloomberg, Ellison confirmed that Annapurna’s priority is to continue supporting its developer and publisher partners during this transition. The company is also committed to expanding its presence in the interactive space by continuing to pursue new opportunities.

The development teams working with Annapurna Interactive are clearly struggling to understand what all of this means for future projects. New president Hector Sanchez, one of the publisher’s co-founders who was brought back last month, has reportedly told developers that all contracts will be honored and staff will be replaced.

Annapurna Interactive provides a variety of services to its partners, including financing, quality assurance, localization, and marketing, so it’s understandable that developers are confused about the projects they’ve created if the publisher closes. Some of the company’s successful games include the aforementioned Stray, Cocoon, Outer Wilds, What Remains of Edith Finch, and many more.
