The synopsis for Extraordinary Season 1 reads: “Ten years ago, everyone over the age of 18 got their superpower. But Jen, a painfully self-aware 25-year-old woman, is still waiting to get hers. She’d take anything at this point. Adrift in a big, confusing world and armed with nothing but a bit of hope, a lot of desperation, and her flatmates, Jen begins her journey to find her maybe-superpower. But in doing so, she might discover the joy of being just kind of ok.”

As for season two, it will follow “Jen (Máiréad Tyers) on her powers journey as she enrolls as a client at the power clinic. Jen soon discovers that the process of finding her power isn’t as easy as she hoped, and things in the rest of her life aren’t smooth sailing either,” per the synopsis.

The series also stars Bilal Hasna and Luke Rollason. Siobhán McSweeney and Robbie Gee will be returning in season two as Mary and Ian, Jen’s mum and stepdad.

New additions this season include Julian Barrett as George, Jen’s power coach at the Discovery Clinic; Rosa Robson as Nora, an unexpected person from Jizzlord’s past; Kwaku Mills as Clark, Carrie’s new work colleague; and Derek Jacobi, who will voice a special cameo role.

The comedy has garnered strong reviews, with the first season scoring an overall score of 7.10/10 on Rotten Tomatoes based on 22 reviews. Extraordinary has been praised in particular for its unique approach and genuine humor.

Written by series creator Emma Moran, and directed by Toby MacDonald and Jennifer Sheridan, Extraordinary is executive produced by Sally Woodward Gentle and Lee Morris for Sid Gentle Films, the production company behind “Killing Eve”. Charles Dawson, Johanna Devereaux, and Emma Moran also serve as executive producers. Charlie Palmer is Series Producer with Abíólá Rufai-Awójídé as Producer.
