A woman brought her father to tears by gifting him a prized baseball card that he’d sold three decades prior when his family had fallen on hard times.
Lindsey Moore, of Nashville, never forget how, when she was seven or eight years old, her father sold his much-loved 1984 Dan Marino baseball card to help his family pay for necessities.
Three decades later, she seized the opportunity to restore what her father had sacrificed when she became his Secret Santa – and gifted him back the exact same edition of the card that he’d traded in for cash so long ago.
The daughter, a dental technician, shared footage of the moment her dad received the gift to TikTok, and quickly saw the heartwarming post go viral.

On opening the gift, her father rushed to hug Lindsey before wiping a tear away, clearly touched by the gesture
Lindsey works as a dental technician in Nashville
In the just-under two-minute video, the dad can be seen opening the card from Lindsey in which she expressed that his selling the card became ‘one of [her] most vivid childhood memories.’
‘You left me and [my brother] Nick in the car to go into the comic book/card store,’ she recalled in the note.
‘In that moment, I felt your sacrifice,’ she continued.
‘It taught me that I would do whatever necessary to ensure my future family never needed for anything.
‘It was a lesson that has stuck with me since that moment.’
At the time, after she’d realized he’d sold his card, ‘my 7 year old mind was determined to buy it back.
‘I knew I would work hard enough to repay what you put into the greater good,’ she further described.
Lindsey’s note to her father concluded with the touching reflection: ‘7 year old me would be so elated to see that I finally fulfilled that promise I made to myself.’

In the video, the father can be seen tearing up after unwrapping the baseball card – minted for then-quarterback Dan Marino’s rookie year with the Miami Dolphins.
The dad, overcome with emotion, then embraces his daughter before wiping away a tear.
Marino, 62, went on to play 17 seasons with the Dolphins and remains involved with the team as a special advisor.
According to Sports Card Investor, a Dan Marino card of the same condition as the one seen in Lindsey’s TikTok can sell for about $50.
