A young boy who lit himself on fire on top of a dock in front of several other kids appeared to survive after backflipping into water.

A man named Jebediah Lincler posted a video on Twitter of the boy, seemingly his cousin, drenching himself in gasoline and lighting himself on fire right before throwing himself off the dock into the waters below.

Several kids who aren’t shown on camera cheered the boy on during the dangerous stunt as someone recorded him.

Once the boy backflipped on fire, kids began to scream while he was still in the air.

The fire was thankfully extinguished by the water, and after the young daredevil emerged from under the water, one girl asked him, ‘Are you alive?’

Lincler re-assured viewers after the video went viral, saying his cousin is ‘alive and well’ and astonishingly suffered ‘no bad burns.’

According to the Los Angeles Times, skin burns that are performed by setting yourself on fire are ‘excruciatingly painful.’

When there is a severe burn to the skin, it can result in a leak of your body’s water, which can result in death from shock.

Males or females between the ages of 20 and 50 will have a better chance at recovering depending on the severity of the burn.

The boy who set himself on fire limited his exposure to the flames to his upper body.

Wearing nothing but swim trunks, the back flipper would have been covered in hotter fire and more severe burns had he doused himself further.

It is unclear if the kids expected the boy to light himself on fire, and a girl asked the boy if he was alive after he came out of the water

Instagram users have either loved what he did or thought it was an incredibly poor decision. The boy who lit himself on fire appeared to be okay after rising above the water

One Instagram user thought the video was ‘the dumbest s***’ he’s seen in forever.’

‘Should of said something cool like flame on or something,’ another Instagram user wrote.

‘This the dumbest mess… how do people allow themselves be used like this,’ wrote another commenter.
