THE TIME: Mr. Hrubesch, you just turned 73. Can you feel the years?
Horst Hrubesch: Sometimes the knee hurts, the foot hurts, the back hurts. But I just don’t feel it in my head. Sometimes I wonder how I got there. Time flies. While I was still playing, my children suddenly grew up without me noticing. And when the coaching jobs came later, I was sometimes so involved that the time just flew by.
TIME: Did you take on your most recent job, as coach of the women’s national team, out of a sense of duty? Or do you also have fun with it?
