Huawei’s long-awaited triple-screen smartphone is now official in China on September 10thand will be called XT Companion. A newly released image purports to show us a practical view of one side of the device, but take this with a grain of salt. gigantic pinch of salt, as not even the Chinese source of the image is sure of its authenticity.
It’s hard to say how real this is, since the Mate XT will be the first tri-fold smartphone we’ll see. Maybe it looks like this from the side, maybe it doesn’t. Either way, we’ll have official images in exactly a week, so there’s not much more to wait for.
This Mate XT (if that’s what it is) is alleged to be an engineering prototype, which has 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. Of course, Huawei could offer other RAM/storage combinations at launch as well. The phone was reportedly listed on a second-hand sales platform in China for a whopping CNY 16,888, which now translates to $2,371 or €2,147.
Since this is the first device of its kind, you definitely shouldn’t expect it to be cheap.
