Apple introduced a starting price of $999 when it launched the iPhone X, ushering in a new ultra-premium category of flagships, and followed it up with an even larger version, charging a premium. The company hasn’t shied away from this approach, but despite several generations of iPhone releases, the smaller ‘Pro’ version has never crossed the $999 threshold, despite numerous rumors claiming otherwise. According to the latest rumor, the iPhone 16 Pro’s price for the base model is expected to remain unchanged, which is an excellent strategy, and means more features for consumers without throwing away an extra penny.
Customers now pay less to use the tetraprism periscope zoom lens on the iPhone 16 Pro
An update from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman on X talks about the iPhone 16 Pro’s pricing, and he estimates that Apple will stick to its usual approach of bringing out two premium models. However, there will be a number of differences this year, starting with the inclusion of a tetraprism periscope zoom lens on the iPhone 16 Pro. In fact, we previously reported that the same telephoto hardware was present on last year’s iPhone 15 Pro Max. will arrive on iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max this year.
While this means both high-end models will feature a tetraprism zoom lens, the specs will remain essentially unchanged. Additionally, the iPhone 16 Pro is expected to receive an increase in display size, but the bezels could be significantly thinner, as Apple is rumored to have adopted a ‘Border reduction framework’ technology to make this possible. The touch-sensitive camera button is present on all iPhone 16 models, and thanks to 10 percent increase in battery capacity on the iPhone 16 Pro, the latter is expected to last longer.
I expect the touch-sensitive camera button to be on all iPhone 16 models tomorrow. The thinner bezels on the Pro lineup are noticeable, as are the improvements in battery life. I don’t expect the entry-level price of the Pro to increase from $999. The big focus will be on AI and the A18 chip across the board.

There’s plenty to talk about during the announcement, but the latest rumor claims that Apple’s main focus will be on AI and the A18 Pro chip. The tech giant may get a ton of flak for charging insane premiums for its products, but you can’t argue with its pricing consistency, and it’s an indication of a robust supply chain. In any case, the ‘It’s Glowtime’ event kicks off in a few hours, and we’ll be sure to keep you updated with all the latest updates, so stay tuned.
