Apple tends to omit detailed specifications for its iPhones and instead uses arbitrary terms for the most part. This includes wired charging speeds, where the new iPhone 16 series, like its predecessors, is quoted as offering a 50% charge in 30 minutes when using Apple’s official 20W USB-C power adapter.

That’s all Apple says on its official specs page, but a series of certifications from China confirm that Apple has dramatically increased the charging speed potential on the iPhone 16 series – bringing it up to 45W.
According to the China Quality Certification Center (CQC), the iPhone 16 (A3288), iPhone 16 Plus (A3291), iPhone 16 Pro (A3294), and iPhone 16 Pro Max (A3297) support 5-15 volt, 3 amp charging. That means peak charging speeds of up to 45W, which would be a notable improvement over the previous model. iPhone 15 Series devices that reached a maximum of 27-29 W.

Apple officially quotes the same 50% in 30 minutes charging speed for its new iPhone 16s, but the important thing is that these numbers were achieved with Apple’s official 20W USB-C power adapter. This means that the new iPhones should be able to take advantage of higher-wattage chargers using the Power Delivery (PD) standard. It remains to be seen whether this will provide meaningful 0-100% charging times.
