New footage may shed light on what sparked the brawl which saw former NFL MVP Cam Newton violently attacked.
The quarterback, who last played for the Carolina Panthers in 2021, was involved in a brawl at a 7-on-7 football event in Atlanta on Sunday.
Cameras caught Newton scrapping with several men after the 34-year-old appeared to be ambushed by a group of attackers.
According to The Athletic, those who approached Newton were involved with TopShelf Performance, a training facility in Atlanta that had youth teams playing in the event.
It’s claimed that a couple of TopShelf coaches seen scrapping with Newton had previously worked alongside the quarterback.

On Monday, a video emerged of one man who can be seen wearing a TopShelf Performance hoodie and appears to be involved in the fight.
He is heard trash talking Newton. ‘I’m going to say it – they can’t hide the film now… your non-throwing a** Atlanta hero quarterback cannot beat me,’ the man says.
Some have suggested that the video helps explain why the violence broke out over the weekend.
According to reports, TopShelf beat C1N – Newton’s football program – in a ‘heated game’ which saw the two Under-18 teams trade trash talk before tensions boiled over.
Police and security staff were forced to break up the altercation, which saw Newton drag one man aside before another threw a punch in the quarterback’s direction.
All those involved – including Newton – were reportedly removed from the event.
