The cop at the centre of a manhunt for two missing men has been arrested after handing himself in and detectives have sealed off a street 165km away as they search for a missing white van he was renting.

Constable Beau Lamarre-Condon, 28, was wanted for questioning by police after his ex-boyfriend, former Channel 10 presenter Jesse Baird, 26, and Baird’s new partner Luke Davies, 29, vanished from Paddington, in Sydney’s east, on Monday night.

Police hold grave concerns for the couple’s safety after a significant amount of blood was discovered in Baird’s Paddington townhouse.

The bloody find came after their belongings were found dumped in a skip bin in Cronulla just after 11am on Wednesday.

Lamarre-Condon, who is also well known as a celebrity chaser, vanished in the wake of the two men disappearing. He told his bosses he was going on sick leave and switched his phone off.

On Friday morning, as cops frantically searched for Lamarre-Condon and his rented white Toyota Hiace van, he handed himself in at Bondi Police Station at 10.30am.

A street in Lambton, Newcastle, 165km away from the Paddington crime scene, was sealed off by police on Friday after a white van was spotted in Karoola Road near Lambton Pool, which matched the description of the one being hunted.

‘There’s cops everywhere, walking the streets, door knocking,’ said one local resident. ‘Got the road closed past the pool.’

Another added: ‘The park is taped off with police tape up near the bowling club and lots of police are walking the park at the moment.’

Lamarre-Condon is suspected to have driven the van to a home in the Newcastle suburb where it was spotted at 10pm last night before it had vanished again by 2am.

Daily Mail Australia understands a close friend of Lamarre’s lives in Newcastle and he would visit regularly.

No wrongdoing or involvement is suggested of this woman.

The major new developments came after Daily Mail Australia revealed Lamarre-Condon’s phone had shown signs of life shortly before his arrest.

He had gone to ground in the wake of the manhunt being launched for the missing couple, with police unable to locate him after he was revealed to be Mr Baird’s ex-boyfriend.

Prior to joining NSW Police, Lamarre-Condon was a celebrity blogger who was notorious for taking selfies with stars like Taylor Swift and Lady Gaga.

He joined the police service in 2019, but hit the headlines again when he was caught on camera tasering a man in the face during an arrest.

An investigation later cleared him of any wrongdoing.

His arrest on Friday morning followed a police raid on Lamarre-Condon’s family’s home in Balmain late last night.

At the property in Balmain, in Sydney’s inner west, relatives on Friday admitted they were ‘stressed’ but declined to comment further.

Mr Baird and Mr Davies went missing from the TV producer’s $3million rental home in Paddington on Monday.

Mr Davies, 29, was with Mr Baird, 26 – but the pair then vanished and Mr Davies’ family have been unable to contact him.

CCTV footage of the couple’s last known whereabout shows them entering Mr Baird’s home late on Monday night.

The men were captured wandering outside before heading towards the back of the terrace. A white van is then seen driving nearby.

Neither of the pair have been seen since, however Mr Baird’s phone appeared to have last been active on WhatsApp on Tuesday evening.

A manhunt was launched after a pile of the couple’s bloodied clothes was found in a large skip bin in the centre of Cronulla in Sydney’s south at around 11am on Wednesday.

Police then raced to Mr Baird’s home in Paddington, where they found a ‘large amount of blood’ and bloodstained furniture.

‘Following inquiries, detectives are looking at a line of inquiry that a third person may be able to assist with the investigation,’ a police statement read on Thursday night.

‘Detectives will continue to look at all past relationships and associations.’
