Joker: Folie à Deuxfeaturing Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga, was released in India on October 2. The film grossed ₹5 crore at the box office on its opening day but saw a significant drop in earnings over the next two days. On October 4, the revenue was ₹1.35 crore and further fell to ₹1.25 crore on Friday, with an overall English occupancy rate of 7.96%. Till now, the total collection of the film stands at ₹7.75 crore, Sacnilk reported. Directed by Todd Phillips and distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, the sequel to the 2019 hit Comedian also stars Brendan Gleeson, Catherine Keener, and Zazie Beetz in prominent roles.
Original 2019 Comedian setting high standards in terms of box office collections. With a budget of $65 million, the film earned an incredible $1.07 billion worldwide. On the contrary, Joker: Folie a Deux was made on a $200 million budget and has not received as many positive reviews as its predecessor. The sequel is expected to gross between $50 and $65 million in opening weekend, well behind the original film which grossed $13.3 million in Thursday previews and $96.2 million in opening weekend, reported Variety.

2019 Comedian tells the story of Arthur Fleck (Joaquin Phoenix), a failed comic who gradually turns into a madman and changes the fate of Gotham City. The sequel picks up where it left off, with Arthur now housed in an institution at Arkham while waiting to be tried for his crimes as the Joker. While struggling with his dual identity, Arthur finds true love in Harley Quinn (Miss Gaga).
