The Las Vegas Raiders are looking to get better and younger at quarterback.

That’s why it’s not much of a surprise to see that they’ve decided to move on from Brian Hoyer.

Moving on from the perennial backup will save them north of $2.6 million in cap space with less than $1 million in dead money.

This news shouldn’t make much noise.

However, Hoyer made the rounds a couple of weeks ago, with Johnny Manziel calling him out for mocking him and not helping him out during their time together with the Cleveland Browns.

That’s why someone on Twitter asked Manziel his thoughts on Hoyer being released, to which he replied he’d be just fine because he already got plenty of money from Cleveland Browns owner Jimmy Haslam.

Manziel looked back on his playing days and his struggles, and while he admitted he didn’t put in the work, he thinks the team could’ve been more supportive.

Hoyer downplayed Manziel’s criticism, opting to move on from the past.

Hoyer is obviously not getting any younger, but he’s a proven veteran and should continue to get more opportunities to be a backup for as long as he decides to keep playing.

However, it is curious to wonder if Manziel’s comments will be a factor, as he has made it loud and clear that Hoyer is not exactly the most supportive teammate in the league, at least from the time they spent together.
