Jude Law: From Womanizer to Model Father

Wonderfully idyllic pictures from New York: Hollywood star Jude Law has found family happiness at the age of 51. With his two youngest children, born in 2020 and 2023, he walks unpretentiously through New York’s Soho district and radiates one thing: This is the life I always wanted. And the impression is getting stronger: the former womanizer has completed his transformation into a model father.

Wife Phillipa Coan gives him stability

His three-year-old daughter in his right hand, the stroller with his 1-year-old child in his left hand. Jude Law has no eyes for paparazzi or even other women. His entire focus is on his two children and what he wants to give them: the love of a father. Jude Law understood years ago what his life should actually be about: consistency. His wife Phillipa Coan (38), to whom he has been married since 2019, grants him this long-missed stability. Coan is not only a professional psychologist, she has apparently also done a lot for Jude’s change of heart. Their first daughter was born in 2020, followed by their second child in 2023. The couple deliberately keeps the names of their children out of the public eye. There are only a few photos of him on the superstar’s Instagram profile shortly after the birth of the daughter or at one Father-daughter day show.

Children and failed relationships as patterns

Let’s think back: in 1999 as ‘Dickie’ Greenleaf in ‘The Talented Mister Ripley’ or five years later as heartthrob ‘Alfie’, Jude Law gave free rein to his passion for beautiful women. At the time, he not only won the title of ‘Sexiest Man Alive’, he also gave the impression that he was simply playing himself in the film. In those years, Law was at the height of his career. He was the sought-after poster boy who supposedly could have anyone if he wanted. In 2003, his marriage to his first wife Sadie Frost (59) ended when he met colleague Sienna Miller (42) and fell in love on the set of ‘Alfie’. It was not only his three children with Frost, Rafferty (27), Iris (23) and Rudy (21), who suffered.

He also dragged Miller into his then destructive love life when he started an affair with his children’s nanny in 2005. The already engaged couple split up in spectacular fashion and got back together from 2009 to 2011 before Miller finally dumped him. It’s hard to believe: in all the turmoil of that time, Law played the single, overly sensitive father who is too shy for a new relationship in the 2006 Christmas hit ‘Love Needs No Holidays’. Privately, things were very different: in 2009, his affair with American model Samantha Burke (39) gave birth to his daughter Sophia (14). But the relationship did not last longer than his relationship with singer Catherine Harding (33), with whom he has his nine-year-old daughter Ada.

Arrived as a family man

So why would Jude Law have changed? Law seems to have grown up emotionally. The London native is now more protective of his family life than he was before. The patchwork family lives in seclusion in south London. He is more careful about details than he was with his older children – hence the unknown identities of his two youngest. The one exception: in September 2020, he burst out with joy. Ion Jimmy Fallon’s “The Tonight Show” he spontaneously and exuberantly noted that he had become a father again. Law seems more relaxed today as he talks about his new family with Phillipa Coan and their two children. Back in 2020, he was already excited about his patchwork life “The Telegraph”: “I’m very fortunate to be with someone who makes me have more fun than I’ve ever had in my life. We have an incredibly stable and healthy, wonderful family life. That extends to my children, who are young adults… and then there are the younger children who just have so much joy and so much fun. It seems like Jude Law has finally arrived as a family man.
