A cat came in The Netherlands According to the assumption of the city council, the town hall of the municipality of Dokkum was flooded, causing damage of 325,000 euros. The cat was discovered in May last year in the town hall of the Frisian community during construction work, broadcaster Omrop Fryslân reported on Friday.

Kat cannot be caught and floods the town hall

Because it was not possible to catch the cat, the building was temporarily closed. The cat probably then turned on a tap, which initially caused water to seep into furniture and walls unnoticed and also leaked into the basement through the floors.

The damage was so extensive that some of the employees had to work temporarily in another building. Some of the walls and floors even had to be replaced. Councilor Bert Koonstra presented the final law of almost 325,000 euros during the city council meeting on Thursday evening. “The insurance pays for the damage,” he said. “We can now close this cat file.” Whether the cat was actually responsible for the open tap could not be proven, because no one observed the animal.
