The 2023-24 NBA season is coming to a close and the Los Angeles Lakers find themselves in the heat of the Play-In Tournament race.

The Lakers have been up and down for the entire regular season, but lucked out as they currently own the No. 8 seed after beating the Memphis Grizzlies.

Los Angeles got some much-needed help in the standings when both the Golden State Warriors and Sacramento Kings lost to the New Orleans Pelicans and Phoenix Suns, respectively,

New Orleans and Phoenix needed the wins to keep their hopes of avoiding the Play-In alive, while Golden State and Sacramento are now guaranteed to participate.

Meanwhile, the Lakers can hold on to the eighth seed if they’re able to beat the Pelicans on Sunday.

With Los Angeles in control of their destiny, they have better odds to make the playoffs than Golden State and Sacramento via NBC Sports Bet.

“Big names including LeBron James and Steph Curry are on the bubble going into the last day of the NBA regular season. Kings +135, Lakers +105, Warriors +220.”

At +105, the Lakers are essentially a coinflip to make the postseason and for good reason as they only need to win one game to get in.

Their odds should improve if they manage to hold onto the eighth seed, but if they lose against New Orleans they could potentially fall to ninth.

If that happens, then they would need to win two games to make the playoffs and subsequently drop their postseason odds.

The final day of the regular season will be a massive one and the pressure is on the Lakers to keep their spot.
