The Orlando Magic haven’t been around for that long, but they’ve had their fair share of legends along the way.

One of the youngest franchises in the NBA, the Magic are currently celebrating it’s 35th anniversary.

With that in mind, they’ve hosted multiple franchise greats during home games, and Saturday’s matchup vs. the Sacramento Kings was Tracy McGrady’s turn.

Unsurprisingly, the entire Kia Center showered him in praise, love, and gave him a big round of applause when he made an appearance at halftime (Via Bally Sports Florida).

The Hall of Famer is one of the most gifted and unstoppable scorers this game has ever seen.

That didn’t translate into much postseason success, but he was one of the most entertaining players to watch in the game when he was healthy.

There’s been a long debate about whether the Magic should retire McGrady’s No. 1 jersey, as that was also Penny Hardaway’s number, and he was also a team legend and led them to the NBA Finals.

Truth be told, they couldn’t go wrong either way, and perhaps they could even do a unique thing and retire both of their No. 1 jerseys.

The McGrady era didn’t come with deep postseason runs, but he was one of the guys who put this franchise on the map, and he deserves every bit of love and recognition from Magic and NBA fans alike.

Fortunately for the fans, this current team does look built for long-term success, and perhaps they’ll be able to do what Shaquille O’Neal, Hardaway, McGrady, and Dwight Howard weren’t able to do.
