Man Utd star’s agent slams Ten Hag for brutal treatment of client about to leave

Erik ten Hag has been blasted by the agent of Facundo Pellistri, who has admitted it will be “difficult” for his client to continue at Manchester United under the Dutchman.

Pellistri, 22, has made just 14 appearances in all competitions for United and is currently in talks to join Granada on loan before Thursday’s transfer deadline. The Uruguay international, who joined the club back in 2020 in a £9million deal, is behind the likes of Antony and Alejandro Garnacho in the pecking order after struggling to make an impression on Ten Hag.

And while United are only sanctioning a temporary exit, the player’s agent, Edgardo Lasalvia, has accused Ten Hag of failing to “value” his client and warned that Pellistri may not wish to return if the former Ajax chief remains in charge.

Lasalvia, speaking in Spanish, told Sport 890 of Pellistri: “Whether he returns to Manchester in the middle of the year will depend on the performance he shows. If Ten Hag continues, it’s going to be difficult. Ten Hag hasn’t used him, valued him, or treated him like a professional.”

Ten Hag decided to keep Pellistri at Old Trafford in the summer following the winger’s 18-month spell on loan at Alaves, but a lack of game time has left the youngster frustrated.

Speaking back in the summer, Pellistri had implied that the plan, both in his view and that of the club, was for him to feature more regularly for Manchester United this season.

Pellistri said previously: “I have spoken to him [Ten Hag] and we are working together to find the best club, the best way, the best option. I am happy with that way because we are all in the same position. [I’m hoping] to play. In my position and at my age, what you want is to play. We are looking forward to find the best solution to do that.”

Like Pellistri, Ten Hag has 18 months to run on his current contract at Old Trafford, however, he is under pressure after overseeing the club’s worst start to a season in decades.

Ineos chief Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his team will ultimately be the ones who decide whether Ten Hag continues at the club long-term after striking a £1.25billion deal for a 25 per cent stake in the club.
