Manchester United may have to pay £90,000 per week to offload Jadon Sancho from their squad. The winger’s relationship with manager Erik ten Hag has deteriorated, making it clear that he has no future at Old Trafford. It is widely expected that Sancho will leave during the January transfer window. West Ham had shown interest in signing him on loan, but talks with his former club Borussia Dortmund have already begun, making a move back to Germany more likely. Despite the potential transfer, Manchester United would still have to pay a portion of Sancho’s wages even if he leaves. The club is desperate to get him off their books and is willing to pay up to 50% of his £180,000-per-week salary. Sancho still has two-and-a-half years left on his contract with Manchester United, but his time at the club has been disappointing, with only 82 appearances and 12 goals since joining in July 2021. Dortmund would be open to re-signing Sancho permanently if the loan spell is successful, but it is unlikely that Manchester United will recoup the £73 million they paid for him.
