- Varakin was recently released from prison following the murder of two women
- Law enforcement now believes him responsible for two more killings in Russia
An alleged serial sex killer has appeared in court following the discovery of the bodies of two escorts, one of whom had been beheaded, according to reports.
Detained ‘maniac’ Alexei Varakin, 37, is believed to have killed two escorts in a frenzy after he ‘was unable to have sexual intercourse with them’, ‘driving him crazy’, according to Russian news outlet Shot.
The beheaded remains of Olga Vorobyova, 40, were found near a hotel where they allegedly met in Moscow district Izmailovo.
Vlada Skitskaya, 25, is believed to have been killed a day later in her rented flat in the Moscow City business district.
The suspect had recently been released from prison after he was incarcerated in 2010 for the murder of two sex workers.

Shot identified the suspect as Alexey Varakin from Tashkent, Uzbekistan, adding that Ms Vorobyova ‘had taken some drugs and refused to have sex with him, so he cut off her head and ran away.’
According to Shot, Varakin wanted to ‘de-stress’ after murdering Vorobyova but was mocked by Skitskaya after he failed to perform in bed.
He allegedly then lunged at the 25-year-old with a knife, Skitskaya putting up a fight and injuring her attacker.
Skitskaya, terrified, had managed to call a friend during the attack and say a client was trying to kill her, it is reported.
Her cries for help were also heard by neighbours.
Police were called but when officers arrived the woman was dead from knife wounds.
There were signs of attempted beheading, said reports.
The Moscow Prosecutor’s Office confirmed on Sunday it was looking into the recent murder of two women, without providing details other than that a 25-year-old woman sustained knife wounds during a dispute in a residence in western Moscow.
