It could be rebuilding time these days for the New York Giants after they went 6-11 in 2023 following a season in which they won nine games and won a playoff game over the 13-4 Minnesota Vikings.
They lost star running back Saquon Barkley in free agency to the NFC East rival Philadelphia Eagles, and now there are rumors that they want to move on from quarterback Daniel Jones, whom they gave a lucrative contract to last offseason.
New York will have the No. 6 pick in this month’s draft, but Marcus Spears says they should do what they can to trade up in order to be able to draft one of the top-three quarterbacks in this year’s class, per NFL on ESPN.

Jones threw for just 909 yards and two touchdowns while also having six interceptions in six games last year before a torn ACL ended his season.
After five pro seasons, it’s clear he simply isn’t a Pro Bowl-level quarterback, and an upgrade at that position would greatly speed up the process of the Giants becoming respectable again.
Their best bet at drafting a potential franchise QB may be trading with the Arizona Cardinals, who already have two-time Pro Bowler Kyler Murray under center, for the No. 4 pick.
There are also whispers the New England Patriots may be willing to trade down from No. 3.
Either trade would allow the Giants to draft J.J. McCarthy, who just led the University of Michigan to the national championship, or perhaps even Drake Maye from the University of North Carolina.
