The Washington Commanders have an opportunity to turn their franchise around once and for all.

That’s why they cannot hesitate to take the best player available in the first round of the NFL Draft, and that guy is Jayden Daniels.

Recently, NFL Draft expert Mel Kiper Jr. went on a rant to explain just why the Commanders cannot let Daniels get past them.

Talking on ESPN’s Get Up, he argued that as much as USC star QB Caleb Williams is the consensus No. 1 pick, the talent gap with Jayden Daniels isn’t all that wide.

He pointed out the fact that the Commanders have multiple valuable picks, so they can always stack up their roster with second-round picks or whatnot.

Kiper Jr. compared Daniels to Lamar Jackson, adding that as much as there are rumors about his desire to play for the Las Vegas Raiders and vice versa, they have absolutely no reason or incentive to grant him that wish.

Daniels was one of the most electric players in the nation during his days at LSU.

He ran away with the Heisman trophy — both literally and figuratively — and he could be tailor-made for Kliff Kingsbury’s offense.

The Commanders need more pieces before being ready to compete at the highest level, and it always makes sense to entertain all potential scenarios.

Then again, you just don’t pass on a potential superstar at the most crucial position in the game, especially if you also happen to be in desperate need for a quarterback.
