The upcoming Jurassic World movie has gotten a release date, as well as a potential director who has experience with the action genre.

Deadline has reported that David Leitch is being eyed to direct the latest movie in the Jurassic World franchise. Though the new movie and its writer were just announced last month, a separate article from the outlet also reported the film’s release date, which is currently set for Wednesday, July 2, 2025 — around a year and a half away from now.

Projects that Leitch had previously directed include John Wick (which he co-directed with Chad Stahelski), Atomic Blonde, Deadpool 2, Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw, and Bullet Train.

What was the last Jurassic World movie in theaters?

The most recent Jurassic World movie was Jurassic World Dominion, which debuted in theaters in 2022. The film featured the return of Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Jake Johnson, Omar Sy Daniella Pineda, Justice Smith, and BD Wong. The were joined by original Jurassic Park stars Laura Dern, Sam Neill, Jeff Goldblum, and Campbell Scott.

It was directed by Colin Trevorrow from a screenplay he co-wrote with Emily Carmichael, based on a story by the first two Jurassic World films’ scribes Derek Conolly and Trevorrow. Executive producers were Trevorrow, Steven Spielberg, and Alexandra Derbyshire.
