KARLSRUHE. A Nigerian launched three police operations in Karlsruhe within a few hours, injuring a total of six officers. Nevertheless, the man was released after each attack, said the police.
The first incident occurred last Friday afternoon when the 36-year-old approached an eight-year-old boy at Karlsruhe Central Station and grabbed him by the shoulder. Police then sent the Nigerian off the field. He initially followed instructions, but tried to re-enter the station shortly afterwards.
Nigerian bites police officer
When the officers intervened, According to the police, he resisted “in an aggressive manner”, so that the police officers used “simple physical violence” to enforce the eviction. The man violently resisted this police measure and bit an officer in the hand.
Three other police officers were slightly injured by abrasions. The Nigerian was taken to the police station at the central station, but was allowed to leave after a short time.
Death threats and knife attacks
Then on Saturday night he was caught dodging a ride on a train in Karlsruhe and refused to leave the train despite repeated requests. Instead he threatened to kill the alerted police officers.
When officers removed him from the train, “he put up considerable resistance and repeatedly stabbed the officers from behind with the blade of a utility knife,” police said. One police officer suffered minor injuries to the head, arm and hand. Another female police officer suffered minor cuts to her leg. Both were unable to continue their duties and had to seek medical attention.
The Nigerian could only be stopped by using pepper spray. He was handcuffed and temporarily arrested.
But he was released after a short time and started the next police operation on Saturday morning. Again he was caught while avoiding a ride on a train, again he did not want to leave the train and attacked a police officer by grabbing his arm.
The officers re-cuffed the 36-year-old and took him back into custody, but he was released after an examination ‘in a special clinic’.
Sharp criticism from the police union
Criminal charges have been filed against the man, alleging physical abuse, resisting law enforcement and evading benefits. Despite the threat of death, the subsequent knife attack and The police do not currently assume that the police officer who was injured in the head area had the intention to kill, as a spokeswoman said when asked by JUNGE FREIHEIT. In addition, the suspect did not appear at the police during the weekend for the three cases.
The responsible public prosecutor’s office in Karlsruhe stressed that after each of the three ‘incidents’ it had checked ‘whether the legal requirements for issuing an arrest warrant could be confirmed’. “This requirement was rejected at the time of the decision on the basis of the information available to him.”
Sharp criticism of this decision came from the vice-chairman of the German Federal Police Union, Manuel Ostermann. “You are simply amazed,” he wrote on Platform X.
Karlsruhe: Knife attack on police officers – perpetrator still at large.
It just leaves you baffled.
This is exactly why federal detention centers are needed and deportation must take place from there.
