Andy Reid steps up the mind game as the Kansas City Chiefs take on the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 4
That Head head coach is known for keeping his opponents guessing, and before his team recovered from a slow start to maintain a perfect 4-0 start to the season, he appeared in a cheerful mood.
Kansas CityThe high-powered offense hasn’t been firing on all cylinders this season. But Reid may have found a new way to add juice.
Before using the Charger, a video taken from the stands shows the Chiefs conducting a practice at SoFi stadium.
Patrick Mahomes line up wide and catch deep passes – albeit with a bit of a juggle.
“I hope Andy doesn’t put that in his playbook,” one fan joked.
Should Reid plan his own famous version Philly Specialhe’ll probably keep it a secret until the game.
But the respected side could be attempting a double bluff as the Chiefs battle to add to the injury list as receiver Rashee Rice was the last player to suffer.
Running back Isiah Pacheco is already out and Rice could be out for the season with initial reports suggesting he may suffer a torn ACL.
The Chiefs did receive some good news, as they recovered from an early-season 10-0 deficit to win perfectly so far this season – and Travis Kelce may have halted his worrying slump in form after receiving positive feedback from his teammates.
The wide receiver wore a T-shirt highlighting his star before kickoff.
Kelce, who had just 69 rushing yards this season entering Week 4, didn’t seem too concerned about the lack of work.
The response was his best performance of the season.
He may still be waiting for his first touchdown of the season, but his seven receptions for 89 yards more than doubled his total for the season so far.
The Chiefs haven’t been at their best, and have won their four games by a combined 20 points, but NFL analyst Jason Bell thinks that kind of form is worrying for their NFL rivals.
“This is when you see great teams, players, coaches and organizations that know how to win,” Bell exclusively told talkSPORT.
“They get games like this, it doesn’t look good, the best player says he’s not playing at his highest level, that is Patrick Mahomesbut they racked up the winnings.
“And that’s because their defense played well. They are able to face challenges every week.
“They carried this team last year when they won it Super Bowl.
“So now, if they keep doing that and the offense keeps improving when you have Patrick Mahomes, you know that you’re going to be in the championship round and play well because if there’s one thing this team knows how to do, it’s this team knows how. how to face challenges, especially at the end of the season.”
Rashee Rice has been Mahomes’ most potent weapon this season — and Bell is a big fan.
“He’s the number one receiver in the offense, so he gets a lot of targets,” the former cornerback said.
“The thing about Travis Kelce is there’s no need to panic. They need him in good shape late in the season and in the playoffs. That’s the key.
“There is no panic button. The team is 3-and-0 because their defense played well.
“They got the best midfielder in the world NFL on violations. They just need to find a way.”
